In May of this year, new radio navigation equipment was installed and successfully put into operation at the Muynak airfield - the Doppler azimuth-rangefinder radio beacon DVOR/DME. This equipment is designed to ensure accurate navigation of aircraft in the airfield area.
The DVOR/DME technology is a combination of two important systems: a Doppler omnidirectional radio beacon (DVOR), which determines the azimuth of an aircraft relative to the beacon, and range-finding equipment (DME), which allows determining the distance to the aircraft. The combined use of this data allows crews to accurately determine their location in space relative to the airfield.
The introduction of this equipment will significantly improve the accuracy of landing approaches and takeoffs, and will generally strengthen flight safety in the region. Thanks to the use of modern solutions in the field of radio navigation, the Muynak airfield receives additional opportunities for air traffic services in accordance with international standards.
