+ 12% трафика: Austro Control внедряет новые решения для эффективного управления воздушным движением в летний сезон

Ahead of the busy summer season, Austro Control, Austria’s national air navigation service provider, reports a significant increase in air traffic – the latest figures indicate an increase of 12% compared to summer 2024.

In response to the growing traffic, Austro Control is taking a range of measures to ensure reliable and safe airspace management. Key initiatives include the introduction of a new vertical sector structure, which allows for more flexible load management depending on demand. A major sector reorganization is also planned for 2026.

The company is actively developing its technologies. The modern, trajectory-based air traffic management system is constantly being modernized. This year, support functions and safety systems were updated. A traffic complexity assessment tool is planned for summer 2026, and a complete update of the ATM system is planned for 2028. Particular attention is paid to cooperation with airlines, airports and the Network Manager.

Austro Control is recognized as a model in responding to difficult weather conditions and shares its developments with other service providers. Additionally, to increase resilience during peak periods, meteorological officers are sent to the operational halls, and additional personnel are called in.

In the long term, Austro Control calls for more accurate planning of air carrier schedules, improved accuracy and compliance with flight plans, as well as the widespread implementation of digital communication and automated solutions in aviation. It should be noted that the State Unitary Enterprise "Uzaeronavigation Center" also closely cooperates with Austro Control, adopting their best practices in the field of air navigation services. This year, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the organizations aimed at developing professional interaction and exchanging best practices.
